What type of analysis does a comany do in order to determine if that is a good strategy What factors should be evaluated in the financial statements? How does it benefit the shareholders of the company?

First it props up the price by increasing the buy side demand and secondly, it provides them the opportunity to enjoy a gain in the exchange when they put those share back into the market at a higher price.
