IFRS Foundation Conference to be Held in Dubai on 12th and 13th September
The IFRS Foundation has recently announced the dates for its conference to be held in Dubai. The conference will take place on 12th and 13th of September 2012. The conference will be attended by the IASB (International Accounting Standards Board) members and technical staff members. During the conference IASB members will provide updates related to IASB’s active projects as well as future initiatives and plans.
During the conference session, Ian Mackintosh, Vice-Chairman of the IASB as well as other members of the IASB, senior IASB technical staff and even IFRS experts will give presentations on different topics. Some of the topics that will be discussed at the conference include, update on IASB and their progress and plans for future, update on IASB’s future agenda consultation, IASB’s current projects, the recent standards issued by IASB, Interpretations as well as annual improvements, post implementation reviews, Islamic finance considerations in applying IFRSs, Financial instruments-Replacement of IAS 39. The conference will also feature as many as 8 break-out sessions and 4 special interest sessions on New IFRSs & IFRS for specific situations. A pre-conference session on the first time adoption of IFRS’s and executive industry issues will also be held on 12th September.
This unique conference will provide immense opportunities to people interested in IASB to find out more about their active projects and their future plans. The technical break out session will be conducted by the technical staff members of IASB. At the session, they will discuss projects in detail. The IASB members will also discuss about their response to the feedback gathered on the agenda consultation. They will also emphasize on IASB’s work plan and how they expect it to evolve.
At the special session IASB members will discuss first time adoption of IFRSs at length. They will also hold discussions regarding the implementation of recent new IFRSs that will become mandatory from 1st January 2013. The special session presenters will include eminent speakers with relevant experience as well as other IASB staff members.
Apart from Ian Mackintosh, other members of IASB including Stephen Cooper, Paul Pacter, Amaro Gomes and Darrel Scott will also give their individual presentations at the conference.
