Deloitte has been ranked No. 1 on The Vault Tech Consulting 25 Ranking of the best companies to work for in the rapidly growing industry, after previously ranking third on the same award-giving body.

Now in its second year, The Vault Tech Consulting 25 polls more than 1,500 consultants of all levels to assess their peer consulting firms on prestige as well as the culture of their own firm. The survey weighs prestige (20 percent), firm culture (25 percent), work/life balance (25 percent), compensation (20 percent), business outlook (5 percent) and transparency (5 percent) to determine final rankings.

“At Deloitte, we aim to create an environment where leaders thrive and a critical piece of that is attracting the right talent,” said Jennifer Steinman, chief talent officer, Deloitte LLP.

“This Vault recognition both demonstrates and validates that we are succeeding in our mission to be a place where people grow, develop and lead. This in turn helps us attract future leaders amid increased competition for talent in the industry.”

The survey shows that consultants both inside and outside of Deloitte think highly of the organization’s prestige and quality of life. Consultants surveyed described Deloitte as a “powerhouse” while employees praise its “collaborative,” “people-focused” and “inclusive” culture.

Janet Foutty, national managing director of technology consulting for Deloitte Consulting LLP, added, “This is a tribute to the environment each of our technology practitioners creates, an environment where together we can learn, innovate, grow and support each other’s development and careers.”

The ranking gives credit to Deloitte’s investing in learning with initiatives such as recently-opened Deloitte University, a $300 million leading edge learning environment for developing the next generation of leaders; promoting ways for employees to seamlessly balance work and life together including providing the tools to dial up or dial down their careers over time; demonstrating a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion by providing professionals with tools for success such as the Emerging Leaders Development Program, an initiative designed to prepare high-performing minority managers and senior managers for the next stage in their careers; and building a culture of service including the completion of $50 million in pro bono contributions, which was announced in conjunction with IMPACT Day — Deloitte’s annual national day of volunteer service – and a commitment to continue as a corporate leader of Billion + Change, a national campaign to mobilize billions of dollars in skills-based and pro bono volunteer services to help build the capacity of nonprofit organizations to effectively meet community needs.

Recent Vault rankings also recognize Deloitte’s consulting practice in the areas of operations, human resources and management consulting. Additionally, Consulting magazine named Deloitte Consulting as one of the 2011 top five companies to work for.
