Kazakhstan’s accounting professionals on route to ACCA’s international qualification

Under a recent development in KIMEP, one of the top Universities of Kazakhstan has gained exemption in six exams of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for two of their business degrees in Accounting.

Within a year’s span, students of Bachelor in Accounting & Audit and BSc with accounting specialisation programs have been given exemptions in F – 7 (Financial Reporting) and F – 6 (Taxation) papers of ACCA. Previously students studying these two programs from KIMEP were awarded with four more exemptions. In short, if students of the two stated programs want to continue their professional carrier with ACCA, they will be exempt from sitting in six papers.

ACCA’s head in Kazakhstan, Altyn Shakirkhanova in a recent interview said that the recent official approval of KIMEP adds up to six exemptions for the students studying Bachelor in Accounting & Audit and BSc with accounting specialisation programs, if they wish to qualify and become an ACCA professional. He further stated that the reason why this is so important is that KIMEP is looking forward to prepare graduates with a globally focused finance and accounting understanding or moves on to get qualified its student with ACCA as it seeks to produce globally needed professional accountants.

Altyn Shakirkhanova added that these exemptions help to create a positive repute for KIMEP and gives a message to the future students that KIMEP is producing students with the desired skills at a global level in fields of Accounting and Finance.

Accounting faculty member of KIMEP, Nurlan Orazalin said that KIMEP University has targeted to secure all the available nine exemptions of ACCA for their accounting program students opting for the existing courses or the additional courses such as newly established program in Accounting and Audit, to be launched in august this year. KIMEP aims to further enhance the level of their graduates so that they not only benefit the business community of Kazakhstan but also get recognised in the entire World.

In order to get exemptions, KIMEP had to go through a thorough assessment of its courses by ACCA. ACCA’s qualification has been officially given equivalence to United Kingdom’s Masters Degree.
